Since the 1990’s, the IETF has become engaged in ad hoc networking, as evident through the MANET working group (routing in MANETs), the AUTOCONF working group (autoconfiguration in MANETs). the OSPF working group which is discussing including ad hoc routing into the OSPF protocol suite - and through activities in the research branch of the IETF (called the IRTF), where the routing research group has ad hoc network systems among its topics.

I am interested in and following all IETF activities which has to do with mobility. I am particularly active in the following working groups:

  1. MANET
where I am lead author on a number of standards track documents on MANET routing.

  2. AUTOCONF
where I am the working group chair, and collaborating with the MANET chairs on architecture documents.

  3. OSPF
where  I am co-authoring an extension for allowing MANET interfaces in OSPF

  4. NEMO/MANEMO
where I am interested in and authoring documents on nested networks and route optimisation.
